Man arrested on assault charge in Gowanda

GOWANDA, NY — A New Jersey man faces felony charges after a stabbing early Thursday morning.

Alexander Ariel Vasquez-Perez, 29, of New Jersey, was arrested following an incident at 159 Aldrich Street in the Village of Gowanda.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the address at approximately 4:26 a.m. May 29 for a report of an individual being stabbed with a knife.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau conducted an investigation that led to Vasquez-Perez being charged with assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

Vasquez-Perez was arraigned in the Town of Persia Court, where he was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail.

The victim was transported by Gowanda Ambulance Service to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Gowanda Ambulance Service and the New York State Police.
