Geneseo man arrested on drug charges in Avon

AVON, NY — A Geneseo man faces felony drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 390.

Scott Durso, 61, of Geneseo, was arrested at approximately 7:07 p.m. Wednesday after Deputy Jerry Pilkenton conducted a traffic stop for vehicle and traffic law violations.

Pilkenton, assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Highway Patrol Unit, suspected drug activity in the vehicle and conducted a roadside investigation.

Durso was found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine, according to Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.

He was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree and violations of the vehicle and traffic law.

Durso was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.

He was arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of Groveland Justice Bean.

Durso was released on his own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the state Bail Reform Act.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Durso at the arraignment.

The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.
