RYEGATE, VT — State Police arrested a motorist on suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle went off the road early Thursday.
Joseph Greenwood, 45, of Lyndon, was taken into custody at 12:02 a.m. on Scott Highway south of Witherspoon Road.
Police said Greenwood was driving a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek west on Scott Highway when the vehicle drifted off the north side of the roadway.
Greenwood was uninjured but showed signs of impairment, according to police.
He was transported to the State Police Barracks in St. Johnsbury for processing.
Greenwood was released on a citation for DUI-Drugs.
He is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court-Criminal Division on Sept. 30, 2026.
The weather was cloudy and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.
