Man cited for DUI after crash in Berlin

BERLIN, VT — A Massachusetts man faces drunken driving charges after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 89 North.

State police responded to the Exit 7 off-ramp at approximately 8:44 p.m. May 27 for a reported crash.

Troopers found a 2019 Lincoln Continental down an embankment off the off-ramp.

The operator was identified as Gordon Wisbach, 81, of Newton Centere, Massachusetts.

While speaking with Wisbach, troopers detected indicators of impairment, according to police.

Wisbach was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.

The vehicle was totaled in the crash.

Wisbach was later processed for DUI and issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on July 9 at 8:30 a.m.

He was also cited for negligent operation.

Barre Town Ambulance assisted at the scene.
