CLARKSTOWN, NY — New York State Police arrested a New Jersey man on a driving while intoxicated charge after he was observed driving the wrong way on the New York State Thruway on May 24, 2026.
Shawn A. Brady, 44, of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, was taken into custody after troopers intercepted him traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 87.
Troopers assigned to State Police Tarrytown observed a 2017 Toyota Tacoma traveling the wrong way along the shoulder at approximately 8:40 p.m.
Troopers conducted a traffic stop and detected signs of impairment during an interview with Brady.
Brady failed standardized field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.
He was transported to State Police Tarrytown for processing, where he registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.14 percent.
Brady was released to a sober third party.
He was issued several uniform traffic tickets and is due in Clarkstown Town Court on June 10, 2026.
