Man arrested on drug, firearm charges in Mansfield

MANSFIELD, MA — Police arrested a man Tuesday following a multi-agency investigation into alleged drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession.

Jonathan Mejia, 26, of Mansfield, was taken into custody after authorities executed a search warrant on Oakland Street.

Officers searched Mejia, his apartment and rental car, seizing 63 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, $48,961 in cash, two handguns and three high-capacity magazines.

Mejia was charged with cocaine trafficking, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, possession of a large-capacity firearm, and improper storage of a large-capacity firearm.

The investigation was led by the Mansfield Police Detective Division with assistance from detectives from the Raynham and Seekonk police departments and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration office in Worcester.

Mansfield Police Chief Ronald Sellon credited Detectives Anthony Lattanzio, Patrick Pennie, Chris Walsh and Matthew Souza for leading the investigation.

Raynham Police Detectives Patrick Leahy and Jared Turkington, Seekonk Police Sgt. Adam Laprade and DEA agents also assisted.
