SCHENECTADY, NY — A joint investigation by the Schenectady Police Department and federal agents resulted in weapons arrests on May 26, 2026.
Members of the Schenectady Police Department Special Operations Squad executed a search warrant at 1008 Albany Street at approximately 6:51 p.m.
The investigation was conducted by the Schenectady Police Department’s Gun Involved Violence Elimination Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Violent Crime Task Force.
Jaheem J. West, 21, of Schenectady, was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, and criminal possession of a rapid fire modification device, a class A misdemeanor.
Zaliayh Z. Johnson, 18, of Albany, was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, and criminal possession of a rapid fire modification device, a class A misdemeanor.
The New York State Police Special Operations Response Team assisted during the investigation and operation.
