BLENHEIM, NY — Two men have been arrested in connection with an altercation in which a firearm was allegedly discharged, according to the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to North Road on Sunday for a report of an altercation involving two groups of individuals.
During the altercation, members of one group allegedly discharged a firearm in proximity to the opposing group, deputies said.
Through interviews and investigation at the scene, involved individuals were identified and search warrants were obtained.
Execution of the search warrants resulted in additional evidence being recovered.
On Tuesday evening, two individuals were located and arrested in connection with the investigation.
Dominic Scarpellini, 21, of Blenheim, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, reckless endangerment 1st degree, menacing 2nd degree, endangering the welfare of a child and conspiracy 5th degree.
Nicholas Sitcer, 45, of Jefferson, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, reckless endangerment 1st degree, conspiracy 5th degree and criminal facilitation 4th degree.
Both were processed and held at the Schoharie County Jail prior to arraignment through Schoharie County Centralized Arraignment.
After arraignment, both were released with pre-trial services through the Schoharie County Probation Department.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests or charges may be pending.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the initial scene by the New York State Police and SUNY Cobleskill Police.
