FAIRFIELD, NJ — A North Haledon man was arrested on shoplifting charges at Target on May 26, 2026.
John McMaster, 39, of North Haledon, was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to leave the store without paying for merchandise.
Officers were dispatched to the Target at approximately 5:16 p.m. on a report of a male shoplifter in custody.
Upon arrival, officers found McMaster being detained in the security office by Target security.
McMaster allegedly placed merchandise into a shopping cart and attempted to leave the store without paying for items totaling $206.41.
He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing.
McMaster was later transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility pending an initial court appearance.
