Large-capacity firearm recovered in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, MA — Police recovered a large-capacity firearm and arrested a juvenile male on May 23.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., Officers Christopher Decoteau, James Kennedy and Jason Rosado-Burgos responded to a gun call on County Road.

Sgt. Brendan Boyle and Officers Johnathan Ortiz, Joshua Rivera, Justo Pagan and Thomas Dore arrived to assist.

Upon arrival, officers received information that a suspect, identified as a 15-year-old juvenile, allegedly pulled out and pointed a firearm at a female.

Officers located and detained the juvenile.

Officers then retrieved footage of the incident and the 15-year-old was placed under arrest.

Officer Rosado-Burgos and a Massachusetts State Police K9 began searching for the firearm, which was recovered.

The firearm had an extended magazine, making it a high-capacity firearm.

Due to the suspect’s age, his name and charges will not be released, according to Police Chief Brian Keenan.
