ZENA, NY — Firefighters battled a structure fire in the hamlet of Zena on Saturday evening.
The Woodstock Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 7:49 p.m. May 23, 2026.
The first arriving apparatus reported a well-involved house fire.
First arriving Woodstock fire and police units confirmed everyone was out of the home.
Additional resources were requested, bringing firefighters and equipment from West Hurley, Centerville-Cedar Grove, Mt. Marion, Sawkill and Glasco.
Olive and Phoenicia fire departments provided coverage to the town during the incident.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters fought the blaze into the early morning hours.
The final Woodstock fire unit was placed back in service at 12:40 a.m. May 24, 2026.
The cause of the fire was found to be improper burning of cardboard boxes in the fireplace.
Firefighters were also assisted at the scene by the Woodstock Police Department, New York State Police, Central Hudson Gas and Electric, the Ulster County Fire Investigation Unit and the American Red Cross.
