Woman charged with assault in Central Nyack stabbing

CENTRAL NYACK, NY — A 64-year-old woman has been charged with assault after allegedly stabbing a man twice during separate arguments at a residence on Vine Street.

Officers from the Clarkstown Police Department responded to the reported stabbing at approximately 11:50 p.m. Monday.

Upon arrival, officers found an adult male seated on a bed suffering from stab wounds to his back and upper chest.

The victim told police he had been involved in an argument with the suspect at approximately 11:00 a.m. that day, during which he was stabbed in the back.

The victim said he returned home at approximately 11:00 p.m., woke the suspect, and a second argument ensued.

During that altercation, the suspect stabbed him again, causing serious physical injuries and significant bleeding, according to police.

Members of Nyack Community Ambulance Corps provided medical treatment at the scene before transporting the victim to a local hospital.

Catherine Doran, of Central Nyack, was taken into custody and charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.

Doran was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail pending further court proceedings.
