DORCHESTER, MA — A joint investigation by Boston and Milton police led to the recovery of multiple stolen off-highway vehicles and the arrest of two suspects in connection with a Facebook Marketplace fraud scheme.

Officers executed search warrants at residences on Woodgate Street in Dorchester and Sprague Street in Dedham at about 9:10 a.m. on May 13, according to the Boston Police Department.

The search of the Dorchester residence resulted in the recovery of three stolen off-highway vehicles.

At the Dedham location, officers recovered an additional dirt bike and a firearm that was improperly stored.

Milton Police took two males into custody on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, forgery of a check and uttering a false check.

Investigators determined the suspects were conducting illegal purchases of off-highway vehicles through Facebook Marketplace.

The scam involved the suspects writing fraudulent checks to sellers, then taking possession of the vehicles before the victims discovered the checks could not be cashed.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Boston Police Auto Theft Unit in partnership with Milton Police.
