Memorial vandalized in Fall River

FALL RIVER, MA — Police are seeking a 20-year-old man accused of vandalizing a memorial site dedicated to a gun violence victim.

William Acosta Abreu is wanted in connection with the destruction of a memorial on County Street for Diamonte Odom, who was killed in May 2023.

CAST Detectives learned of the vandalism on May 18 after the memorial site, which included candles and written memories, was damaged in the early morning hours.

Detectives found a video posted to social media showing a male purposely smashing candles and destroying the memorial at 2:27 a.m.

Acosta Abreu was identified through recognizable tattoos visible in the video, according to police.

He has multiple outstanding warrants and is considered dangerous, police said.

On the evening of May 23, officers attempted to stop a vehicle containing Acosta Abreu, but the vehicle sped off, nearly striking an officer, according to police.
