PORTAGE, NY — A traffic stop on State Route 436 led to the arrest of a man on felony and misdemeanor charges May 21.
Deputy Jerry Pilkenton conducted the traffic stop at approximately 5:30 p.m. after observing a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law, according to Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.
The operator was identified as Joshua Dash, 46, of Olean, New York.
A female passenger was also in the vehicle.
During the roadside investigation, it was discovered that a complete stay away Order of Protection was in place against Dash with the female passenger being the protected party.
A criminal history check showed Dash had been previously convicted of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree in 2025.
Dash was arrested and charged with felony Aggravated Family Offense, Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree and violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
He was transported to the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Dash was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Lima Justice Harris.
The judge released Dash on his own recognizance as the charges do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform Act.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Dash at the court arraignment.
The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.
