ALBION, NY — Police arrested three people following a shoplifting incident at Tops Friendly Markets on May 12, 2026.

Store employees reported a female suspect left the store with a full cart of groceries without paying, then loaded the items into a vehicle before driving away.

Officers obtained a description of the vehicle and license plate information, which was shared with the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Mogle located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Route 31 with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office.

Officers recovered the stolen groceries from inside the vehicle, with a total value of more than $800.

Ashley Kleisle was charged with petit larceny following a positive identification by a store employee.

During the stop, Austin Hogan was found in possession of Suboxone strips and was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

The driver, Kyle Vanderkamp, was issued multiple traffic citations related to a revoked license, operating without an interlock device and operating a suspended vehicle due to an insurance lapse.

Further investigation determined that additional stolen property recovered during the incident had been taken from Walmart.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office continued that investigation and identified Vanderkamp as the suspect.

After initially being released from the Albion Police Department, Vanderkamp was later located and taken back into custody by the Sheriff’s Office.

During the investigation, Vanderkamp admitted to stealing merchandise from Walgreens after leaving the police department.

Officers responded to Walgreens where employees confirmed several stolen items, including detergent pods and dog food products, had been taken from the store.

Officers also discovered Vanderkamp had an active parole probation absconder warrant out of Monroe County.

Following processing on the additional charges, Vanderkamp was turned over to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on the warrant.

Kleisle, Hogan and Vanderkamp were all issued appearance tickets for the Town of Albion Court on separate charges related to these investigations.
