MONROE, NY — A two-vehicle collision on Lakes Road left one person dead and another critically injured May 24, 2026.
Troopers from the Monroe barracks responded to the crash at approximately 7:14 p.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Toyota was traveling southwest on Lakes Road when it crossed the center line into the opposing northeast lane of travel.
The Toyota struck a 2025 Subaru head-on as it was traveling northeast.
The operator of the Subaru, identified as Daryl Baker, 43, of Monroe, was located inside the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The operator of the Toyota, identified as Robert Molina, 61, of Monroe, was extricated from the vehicle and provided lifesaving measures at the scene.
Molina was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown in critical condition.
The investigation remains ongoing.
