WEST READING, PA — Two parents have been charged with criminal homicide after their newborn suffered fatal injuries at a hospital, according to the Berks County Sheriff’s Office.
Kevin Canaan, 28, and Yeniffer Tavarez-Cepeda, 25, were arrested Monday following a joint investigation by Berks County Detectives and West Reading Police.
Authorities determined the infant died from injuries sustained while under the parents’ care inside Reading Hospital.
Both Canaan and Tavarez-Cepeda face charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children.
The arrests were made by the Berks County Sheriff’s Warrant Division, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, West Reading Police and Berks County Detectives.
