Man charged with strangulation in Ulster

ULSTER, NY — A Kingston man faces felony charges after a domestic dispute at a motel May 20.

Members of the Ulster Police Department responded to a motel in the Town of Ulster for a dispute.

While investigating the dispute, officers learned that Jeffrey Dawson, 59, of Kingston, physically assaulted a female who had an order of protection against him during a domestic dispute.

The assault resulted in physical injury to the female.

Dawson was charged with the felonies of strangulation in the second degree and aggravated criminal contempt, as well as the misdemeanor of assault in the third degree.

He was arraigned in the Town of Ulster Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail.

The Ulster Police Department was assisted by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
