WARRINGTON, PA — A Philadelphia woman was arrested after police said she stole merchandise from Wegmans, gave false identification to officers and was found with drug paraphernalia.
Warrington police said officers responded to Wegmans at 1405 Main St. on May 19 for a reported retail theft involving a woman observed by loss prevention.
Police said the woman selected multiple items, concealed them in a bag and left the store without paying.
When loss prevention tried to stop her, she fled with $42.36 in merchandise, police said.
Officers later found her nearby, where police said she initially gave false identifying information after being advised she would be charged for doing so.
Police said she then tried to walk away before eventually providing her identity and admitting she had an active warrant from Warminster.
During the investigation, officers found a glass smoking pipe with burnt white residue and five burnt copper filters with residue inside her bag, according to police.
Police identified the woman as Jade Crystal Gantt, 35, of Philadelphia.
Gantt was charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, prohibited acts and penalties, and false identification to law enforcement.
She was arraigned by Judge Petrucci, who set bail at $100,000 or 10% cash, and an additional $100,000 or 10% cash on the warrant, police said.
Police said Gantt was unable to post bail and was taken to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
Court records list the arrest date as May 18.
