LINDEN, NJ — Mohamed Abdelaal, 24, of Iselin, was arrested without incident May 20 following an extensive multi-agency investigation involving detectives from the Linden, Cranford, Hillside, Rahway, Edison and Woodbridge police departments.
Damage was first reported at about 4 a.m. Monday, April 7, when responding officers learned that nearly two dozen vehicles were vandalized at an apartment complex on the 1300 block of South Wood Avenue.
Police later learned that similar incidents were reported in other areas of the city, as well as in parts of surrounding towns in Union and Middlesex counties.
In total, nearly 70 vehicles were damaged between April 1 and 6.
Abdelaal was charged with 41 counts of criminal mischief.
He was remanded to the Union County Jail pending a scheduled appearance in Superior Court.
