BRUNSWICK, NY — State Police arrested a Troy man on child exploitation charges May 15, 2026.
John J. Cahill, 42, of Troy, was charged with two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and two counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.
State Police were assisted by the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce and the Rotterdam Police Department.
Cahill is accused of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation.
The investigation stemmed from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Cahill was processed at State Police Brunswick.
He was arraigned at Troy City Court and released on his own recognizance.
