Burglary arrest in Woodbury

WOODBURY, NJ — Woodbury police arrested a 22-year-old Woodbury man in connection with a burglary at the Heritages Dairy Store on Glassboro Road, authorities said.

Police said officers were dispatched at about 5 a.m. May 17 to the store after a glass break alarm was reported.

When officers arrived, they found the front door had been shattered, cleared the building and saw signs that someone had entered, police said.

An investigation by the Woodbury Police Detective Bureau and an area canvass led investigators to identify Andrew Williams, 22, of Woodbury as the suspect, according to police.

Police said a judge approved an arrest warrant after probable cause was established.

About three hours after the burglary, officers went to Williams’ last known address, where they found him and took him into custody without incident, police said.

Williams was processed at the Woodbury Police Department and later turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department to be lodged at the Salem County Jail pending a bail hearing, authorities said.

Police said the burglary was unrelated to a previous robbery at the same store on March 20.

In that case, police identified Daryl Norman, 53, of Millville as the suspect after what authorities described as a lengthy investigation.

Police said a judge approved an arrest warrant for Norman, who was later taken into custody by Woodbury officers during a motor vehicle stop in Woodbury.
