Man arrested on firearm charges in Roxbury

ROXBURY, MA — A man was arrested and a loaded firearm was recovered following a stop by police Monday night.

Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made the arrest at about 9:30 p.m. in the area of 26 Crawford Street.

Officers on directed patrol in the Grove Hall area observed a heavily overdressed individual walking at an extremely fast pace.

Upon seeing officers, the individual avoided eye contact and walked at an elevated pace in the opposite direction.

Officers approached the individual in the area of 26 Crawford Street and suspected he was in possession of a firearm.

During a frisk, officers recovered a firearm in a holster clipped to the front of the suspect’s waistband.

The firearm was determined to be a tan Glock 19x 9mm handgun loaded with eighteen rounds of live ammunition.

Sani Suleiman, 23, of Roxbury, was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a large capacity feeding device.
