ANDES, NY — A Claryville man was arrested on burglary charges after sheriff’s deputies observed him exiting a residence along State Highway 28.
Alex J. Scrivani, 41, of Claryville, was taken into custody May 11, 2026, following an investigation by Delaware County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Deputies initially observed Scrivani walking along the highway and attempted to interview him, but he was uncooperative, according to Sheriff Craig S. DuMond.
Deputies remained in the area and later observed Scrivani exiting a residence and driveway.
Scrivani was detained and interviewed, and deputies determined he was not supposed to be in the buildings or on the property.
The homeowner was contacted and responded to the scene.
An investigation revealed the front door to the residence had been forced open and Scrivani’s belongings were inside.
No items had been removed from the residence due to the deputy’s interruption, according to the sheriff’s office.
Scrivani was charged with one count of burglary in the third degree, a class D felony, and one count of criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor.
He was transported to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, where he was processed and turned over to corrections.
Scrivani was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment Part Court and held on monetary bail at the Delaware County Correctional Facility.
