Two arrested on drug charges in North Kingstown

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Rhode Island State Police arrested two Providence residents on drug-related charges following a motor vehicle stop on Route 4 on Sunday.

Junior Diaz, 48, of Providence, was arrested at 3 p.m. and charged with possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance less than 10 grams (Suboxone).

Amber Avila, 38, of Providence, was arrested at 3 p.m. and charged with possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance—10 grams to 1 ounce (cocaine), three counts of weapons other than firearms prohibited, and driving with a suspended/revoked/cancelled license—fourth or subsequent offense.

Both suspects were transported to the State Police Wickford Barracks where they were processed.

Diaz was transported to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake, pending morning arraignment at Third Division District Court.

Avila was transported to the Adult Correctional Institution – Women’s Intake, pending morning arraignment at Third Division District Court.
