Man arrested on theft charges in Easton

EASTON, PA — A 27-year-old Pennsylvania man has been arrested in connection with a retail theft at a local grocery store.

Joshua Eugene Ewell was arraigned by Forks Township Police Department on May 13 and remanded to Northampton County Prison after a judge set bail at 10% of $10,000.

Police responded to Weis Markets at 3825 Sullivan Trail on Aug. 13, 2025, at 6:33 p.m. for a retail theft report.

Loss prevention staff provided police with video surveillance of a theft that occurred on Aug. 12, 2025.

The video showed two males enter the store, steal multiple items in the pharmacy area, and leave without paying.

The total loss to Weis was $2,159.59.

Detectives worked with area law enforcement agencies to identify the two males.

An arrest warrant was issued by Judge Hutnik on Sept. 2, 2025.

Ewell faces charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property.
