CAMBRIDGE, MA — Police arrested an unhoused man on multiple charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and drug trafficking in Porter Square on Thursday.
Robert Sullivan, 42, of Boston, was charged following his arrest shortly after 10 p.m. on May 14.
Patrol officers observed Sullivan with a bicycle that had been recently reported stolen.
Officers stopped Sullivan to investigate the bike theft and confirmed the bicycle was stolen.
During the interaction, Sullivan was frisked for weapons after informing officers he had a pocketknife.
The frisk located a loaded 9mm handgun.
Sullivan does not have a license to carry a firearm.
A search of Sullivan’s bag after his arrest yielded large quantities of substances suspected to be heroin/fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine and prescription narcotics, much of which was packaged in a manner consistent with street level drug sales.
His bag also contained an electric stun gun and identification documents for another person.
Sullivan was arraigned in Cambridge District Court on charges including unlawful possession of a firearm with a large capacity feeding device, trafficking of a Class A substance, trafficking of a Class B substance, possession of Class E drugs, receiving stolen property and possession of a dangerous weapon.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case.
The arrest marks the third for illegal possession of a firearm in North Cambridge in just over a week.
Brett Parnham, 49, of Lowell, was arrested in Porter Square on May 7.
Kyle Evans, 39, of Somerville, was arrested on Rindge Avenue on May 11.
