Man arrested in Albany park shooting

ALBANY, NY — A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at Swinburne Park on Saturday evening.

Officers responded to the park at 810 Clinton Avenue around 7:25 p.m. on May 16, 2026, for reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located evidence consistent with gunfire.

A few minutes later, officers responded to the 100 block of Benson Street for reports of an individual shot and located a 19-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his leg.

He was treated by the Albany Fire Department and emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Through investigation, it has been determined that the two calls were related.

Detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit determined that the 19-year-old male was one of the individuals firing a handgun inside Swinburne Park.

Terrell Davis Jr., 19, of Albany, was taken into custody at Albany Medical Center Hospital and charged with one count of attempted murder in the second degree and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

Davis was also arrested on the strength of an active arrest warrant related to a separate incident that occurred on Nov. 5 and charged with one count of menacing in the second degree and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

Davis is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Albany City Criminal Court.
