FALL RIVER, MA — A 17-year-old was arrested on firearm charges after detectives found a loaded handgun during a traffic stop.
Detectives assigned to the CAST Unit were patrolling the areas of County Street and Albion Street on the evening of May 14 in response to a shooting that occurred the previous night.
During their patrol, detectives identified the juvenile, who was known to them and suspected to be in possession of a firearm based on previously developed information.
Detectives conducted a traffic stop and during a pat frisk for officer safety located a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol in the juvenile’s waistband.
The individual was placed under arrest and the firearm was seized.
The juvenile is charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license and possession of a large capacity firearm.
