Man shot in Watervliet

WATERVLIET, NY — A man was shot multiple times Tuesday morning in the 400 block of 1st Avenue, according to the Watervliet Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 10 a.m. May 12 following a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found evidence consistent with a shooting incident.

The victim had been privately transported to a local hospital before police arrived.

He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is listed in serious but stable condition.

Evidence recovered at the scene is consistent with the use of what is believed to be an AK-style rifle.

The investigation remains active and investigators are working to identify all individuals involved.

The Watervliet Police Department thanked the Albany Police Department, Cohoes Police Department, Colonie Police Department, New York State Police and the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center for their assistance.
