Man charged in Cincinnatus

CINCINNATUS, NY — A South Otselic man was arrested May 13 at 1:50 p.m. on charges stemming from an overnight larceny at McKee Equipment Co. in the Town of Cincinnatus, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher A. Leonard, 41, of South Otselic, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and fifth-degree conspiracy, a misdemeanor.

Sheriff’s deputies said officers were dispatched to McKee Equipment Co. on May 6 at about 9:25 a.m. to investigate a larceny that occurred overnight.

Through the investigation, deputies determined Leonard was responsible for stealing property from the business, the sheriff’s office said.

Leonard was not immediately located, and an arrest warrant was issued, according to deputies.

He was arrested May 13 and transported to the Public Safety Building for processing, the sheriff’s office said.

Leonard was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process on May 13 at 8 p.m.

He was remanded to the Cortland County Jail without bail.

His next court appearance is scheduled for May 20 at 7:15 p.m. in Town of Cincinnatus Court.
