Man arrested on federal child exploitation charge in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, NY — A Connecticut man faces federal charges following a multi-agency investigation into child sexual abuse material.

Bryan Cruz Solano, 20, of Hartford, Connecticut, was arrested May 9 on federal charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child.

The investigation began May 1 after the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit at Troop F received information that Cruz Solano distributed child sexual abuse material, including videos depicting Cruz Solano engaging in sexual acts involving a 12-year-old victim.

On May 8, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence in Hartford, Connecticut, and at Cruz Solano’s previous residence in Middletown.

During the search, multiple electronic devices containing additional exploitative material involving the victim were found.

Cruz Solano was arraigned in Manhattan federal court and remanded pending trial.

The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit at Troop F in partnership with the FBI New York Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, FBI New Haven Child Exploitation Task Force, Orange County Child Abuse Unit, Orange County Child Advocacy Center and the Hartford Police Department.
