Walmart evacuated after bomb threat in Bethel Park

BETHEL PARK, PA — Police evacuated a Walmart and an adjoining Giant Eagle store Wednesday morning after receiving a report of an explosive device.

The Bethel Park Police Department responded to the Walmart at 5049 Library Road at approximately 8:45 a.m. May 13.

Both stores were immediately evacuated and secured.

Explosives ordinance device dogs from partner law enforcement agencies searched the entire structure.

No explosives or suspicious devices were located, and the stores were reopened.

The incident remains under investigation.

The Bethel Park Police Department was assisted by the Allegheny County Police and the University of Pittsburgh Police.
