LEWISTON, ME — Police responded to an apartment on Pine Street on Sunday afternoon for a report of a male in distress.
Officers made entry into the apartment and found a 37-year-old man who had been badly beaten and burned.
Evidence at the scene indicated the victim had been tied up during the assault.
The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the investigation revealed the victim had been lured to the apartment, assaulted and threatened with a firearm.
Zachery Paradis, 44, of Lewiston, was charged with criminal restraint, kidnapping, elevated aggravated assault, aggravated assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Police said Paradis is on probation.
Jennifer Dionne, 42, of Lewiston, was charged with criminal restraint, kidnapping, elevated aggravated assault, aggravated assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
