SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Police arrested a Hartford man on multiple charges following a traffic stop Monday evening.

Maurice Bell, 38, of Hartford, was taken into custody at 4:40 p.m. after officers conducting traffic enforcement in the area of John Fitch Boulevard and Burnham Street observed his vehicle fail to stop at a traffic control signal.

Police said Bell initially provided an incorrect date of birth when officers made contact with him and continued to refuse to properly identify himself.

Bell was charged with interfering with officers/resisting arrest, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to obey a traffic control signal and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

He was processed and released on a $7,500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on May 27 at 9 a.m.

In separate incidents Monday, police arrested two East Hartford residents on active arrest warrants.

Luis D. Vega, 36, of East Hartford, was arrested at 5:16 p.m. on two counts of conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree.

The charges stem from two incidents in December when Vega allegedly assisted another individual in stealing merchandise from Target at 125 Buckland Hills Drive.

Spirit Hocquard, 31, of East Hartford, was also arrested at 5:16 p.m. on two counts of larceny in the sixth degree.

Hocquard’s charges stem from the same December incidents, in which she allegedly stole merchandise from the same Target location.

Both Vega and Hocquard were processed and released on $1,500 non-surety bonds and are scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on May 27 at 9 a.m.
