NORWICH, VT — Vermont State Police have identified an 82-year-old woman found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home over the weekend.
The deceased is Noel A. Neely of Norwich, according to a state police update released Monday.
Police began investigating at about 10 a.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a deceased woman at a property at 48 Douglas Hill Road.
First responders located Neely dead inside the residence.
Initial investigation indicates the woman’s death occurred under potentially suspicious circumstances.
Everyone associated with this matter is accounted for, and there is no identified danger to the public, police said.
Neely’s body was brought to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
The case remains open and active.
State police are working in close communication with the Windsor County State’s Attorney’s Office regarding the details and circumstances of the case.
The investigation involves members of the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Search Team, Field Force Division and Victim Services Unit, with assistance from the Norwich Police Department.
