Two arrested in domestic dispute in Peru

PERU, NY — New York State Police arrested two Plattsburgh residents following a domestic dispute on May 5, 2026.

Beverly A. Bushey, 75, of Plattsburgh, was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Brian A. Bushey, 52, of Plattsburgh, was charged with Menacing in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, and Assault in the 3rd Degree.

Troopers responded to Lyons Road in the town of Peru at approximately 9:56 p.m. for a report of a domestic dispute.

An investigation determined that the victim was moving belongings out of a residence when Brian approached and threw water on the victim before slapping them in the face, causing a bleeding lip.

Brian then picked up an axe and made threatening remarks toward the victim, according to police.

The victim entered the residence to retrieve a child.

While leaving with the child, Beverly allegedly grabbed, struck, and slapped the victim while the child was present.

Both Brian and Beverly were transported to State Police Plattsburgh for processing.

They were arraigned in the Town of Peru Court and released on their own recognizance.
