ONEONTA, NY — A man with multiple active warrants was arrested after resisting a deputy and attempting to flee, according to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office.
Donald B. Lane, 55, of Oneonta, was arrested April 26, 2026, and charged with resisting arrest, two counts of obstructing governmental administration and bail jumping in the second degree.
An Otsego County deputy located Lane in the city of Oneonta.
Lane was wanted for failing to appear for sentencing on previous felony charges through Otsego County Court and had an active felony warrant out of the Town of Middlefield Court.
When approached by a uniformed deputy, Lane failed to comply with verbal commands and attempted to flee on foot, according to the sheriff’s office.
After a brief foot pursuit, Lane began to physically resist arrest.
An Oneonta resident witnessed the altercation and voluntarily offered assistance to the deputy, and Lane was taken into custody.
Lane was later transported to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office.
While at the sheriff’s office, Lane refused to comply with arrest processing procedures and obstructed deputies from completing processing, according to the release.
Lane was then turned over to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at Otsego County Centralized Arraignment.
Following arraignment, Lane was remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility without bail.
The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Oneonta Police Department and the New York State Police.
