NEWPORT, VT — An inmate at Northern State Correctional Facility was assaulted by another inmate on the morning of April 30, 2026, according to Vermont State Police.
Police said Malachi Buswell, 42, used a door key to assault Walter Taylor, 33, at approximately 7:30 a.m.
Taylor sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment at the facility.
Buswell was issued a citation on May 6, 2026, for aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
Both men are incarcerated at Northern State Correctional Facility.
