HOLYOKE, MA — Holyoke police arrested four suspects and recovered two firearms and a starter pistol Saturday evening following a traffic stop on Maple Street.
Police Chief Brian Keenan announced the arrests May 2.
Around 6:15 p.m., Officers Gabriel Irizarry and Craig Zolendziewski received information about a subject armed with a gun inside a vehicle in the Walnut Street area.
Officers located the vehicle at 285 Maple Street around 6:45 p.m. and conducted a traffic stop.
Officers Abelardo Barta, Jorgo Soto, Justice Gonzalez and Xavier Dejesus arrived to assist under the direction of Lieutenant Samuel Delvalle and Sergeant Robert Shaw.
Officers observed a firearm in the vehicle and detained the four occupants.
Officers recovered the firearm they observed in the vehicle, which was loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition and capable of holding 30 rounds of ammunition.
A second firearm was located in the vehicle.
A starter pistol was recovered from the waistband of Angel Rosario, 18, of Springfield.
Officers recovered 14 rounds of ammunition from a 15-year-old male passenger, who also had three outstanding arrest warrants.
The driver was identified as Jayden Luiggi, 18, of Holyoke.
Two other passengers were identified as male juveniles, ages 15 and 16.
The names of the juveniles cannot be released due to their age.
Luiggi is charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a covert/undetectable firearm, carrying a loaded large capacity firearm on a public way, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feed device, improper storage of a firearm and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
Rosario is charged with possession of a covert/undetectable firearm, carrying a loaded large capacity firearm on a public way, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feed device, improper storage of a firearm and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
