HAMPTONBURGH, NY — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving two SUVs and a motorcycle.
The crash occurred on May 4, 2026, at approximately 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of County Route 51 and County Route 8 in the Town of Hamptonburgh.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling north on County Route 51 when it entered the intersection of County Route 8, also known as Sarah Wells Trail, and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The operator and sole occupant of the motorcycle was identified as Kevin Crawford, 73, of Chester.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office performed life-saving measures at the scene prior to emergency medical services arriving.
Crawford was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
