BOONVILLE, NY — A 16-year-old Boonville resident was arrested after three vehicles were stolen in a series of thefts Thursday morning.
The incident began around 8 a.m. when a Town of Boonville dump truck was stolen from Department of Public Works property on State Route 12, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol.
The dump truck was driven to Sudal Hill Road, where it became disabled.
A second truck was then stolen from a nearby property on Sudal Hill Road and driven to Potato Hill Road, where it was abandoned.
A third truck was then stolen and was involved in a property damage motor vehicle crash before being stopped by an assisting New York State Police unit.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Aid Unit was called to take over the investigation due to the suspect’s age.
The juvenile, whose name is withheld due to age, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, both class D felonies, and one count of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a class E felony.
The juvenile was arraigned at Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Proceedings/CAP Court and was released to a parent with a scheduled appearance in Oneida County Court Youth Part on May 4, 2026.
