Man arrested on warrant in Auburn

AUBURN, NY — A Cayuga man wanted on a felony drug charge was arrested after being found hiding in a vehicle.

New York State Police were dispatched to the Wheat Street Apartments in Cayuga on April 27, 2026 at approximately 6 p.m. for a report that a male with an outstanding warrant was at the location.

The male, identified as Amonti Fletcher, was wanted by the City of Ogdensburg Police Department for felony level possession of drugs, a Class B felony.

Fletcher was observed getting into a red van and was reportedly hiding in the backseat, according to police.

A be-on-the-lookout alert was issued to all Cayuga County law enforcement.

A short time later, the vehicle was observed entering the City of Auburn on Genesee Street.

A traffic stop was conducted in the area of Tops.

Amonti J. Fletcher, 21, of Cayuga, was found hiding under a large pile of clothing in the trunk area of the vehicle and was arrested.

Fletcher was transported to the area of Watertown where he was turned over to the City of Ogdensburg Police Department.
