HOULTON, ME — Virginia Pictou Noyes was reported missing in 1993 after she was last seen walking away from a truck stop in Houlton, according to Maine State Police.
Police said Noyes had gone to Bangor with her husband, Larry Noyes, and two other people on the day she disappeared.
That evening, Larry Noyes assaulted Virginia Pictou Noyes and was arrested on a domestic assault charge, police said.
Police said Virginia Pictou Noyes was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment.
According to investigators, she told police she needed to get home to her five children in Easton and left the hospital before her checkup was completed.
Police said her husband was later released on bail.
Investigators believe Virginia Pictou Noyes got a ride to a truck stop in Houlton.
She was last seen walking away from the truck stop, according to police.
The case remains unsolved.
