Arrests made in Warwick

WICKFORD, RI — Rhode Island State Police said troopers at 1:36 a.m. arrested Cheryl Reyes, 59, of North Kingstown, on an affidavit and arrest warrant charging felony shoplifting of more than $100 and misdemeanor shoplifting as a habitual offender, second offense, originating from the Smithfield Police Department.

Police said Reyes also was arrested on a Superior Court full bench warrant for failure to appear for restitution review on the original charge of shoplifting, second offense, originating from the Warwick Police Department.

Police said she also was wanted on a Superior Court full bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on the original charge of shoplifting, second offense, originating from the Smithfield Police Department.

Police said Reyes also was wanted on a Superior Court full bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on the original charge of shoplifting, second offense, originating from the North Kingstown Police Department.

Police said she also was wanted on a Superior Court full bench warrant for failure to appear for pretrial conference on the original charge of shoplifting, second offense, originating from the Smithfield Police Department.

Police said Reyes also was wanted on a Superior Court full bench warrant for failure to appear for pretrial conference on the original charge of possession of a stolen vehicle, originating from the Johnston Police Department.

According to state police, the arrest resulted from a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 South in Warwick.

Police said Reyes was transported to the State Police Wickford Barracks, where she was processed and later turned over to the Smithfield Police Department.

State police said troopers at 1:36 a.m. also arrested Julie Mathers, 51, of North Kingstown, on a Superior Court full bench warrant for failure to appear for determination of attorney on the original charge of shoplifting, second offense, originating from the Coventry Police Department.

Police said Mathers also was arrested on two additional Superior Court full bench warrants for failure to appear for determination of attorney on the original charge of possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance, both originating from the Coventry Police Department.

According to state police, Mathers was arrested as a result of the same motor vehicle stop on Route 95 South in Warwick.

Police said Mathers was transported to the State Police Wickford Barracks, where she was processed and later transported to the Adult Correctional Institution Women’s Intake Center.
