SYRACUSE, NY — A suspect was arrested early Friday following a vehicle pursuit that ended near Burnet Avenue and Hickock Avenue.
Syracuse Police officers assisted the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office after the pursuit ended at approximately 1:43 a.m. on April 17, 2026.
The suspect fled on foot into a heavily wooded area, prompting a coordinated search involving multiple agencies.
Officer Millett deployed a drone to track the suspect’s movements through dense cattails and direct resources into position.
K9 Chiro and his handler, Officer Rajchel, responded to the area where the suspect was hiding.
Officer Rajchel issued verbal warnings, leading the suspect to surrender without further incident.
After reviewing drone footage, officers identified a suspicious heat signature near the area where the suspect had been hiding.
K9 Chiro conducted a secondary search and located a loaded handgun concealed in the cattails.
The suspect faces multiple felony charges, including weapons offenses.
The suspect also had an outstanding felony warrant out of Maryland.
