Man arrested on strangulation charge in Ulster

ULSTER, NY — Officers responded to a dispute at a motel in the town at approximately 5:45 a.m. April 21, 2026.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim of an assault.

Investigation revealed that during a domestic dispute, William E. Morey, 57, of Kingston, had used force to restrain and obstruct the airway of the victim.

Morey was arrested and charged with the felony of strangulation in the second degree, and the misdemeanors of assault in the third degree and unlawful imprisonment.

He was arraigned in the Town of Ulster Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail/$100,000 bond.

The Ulster Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
