Two arrested on drug, weapons charges in Deposit

DEPOSIT, NY — Two individuals were arrested early Sunday morning following a traffic stop conducted by New York State Police on State Highway 10.

On April 19, 2026, at approximately 1:29 a.m., State Troopers initiated a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Impala after observing the vehicle move unsafely from its lane.

While interviewing the driver, identified as Adam Morley, 43, of Deposit, Troopers observed a pill container belonging to an individual not present in the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that the contents of the bottle did not match its labeling and were identified as oxycodone.

Troopers also discovered approximately 13.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a pump action shotgun that had been reported stolen in South Carolina.

Morley was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a Class E felony, and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, misdemeanors.

A passenger, Taylor J. Fineout, 27, of Hancock, was found in possession of a 30-round high-capacity ammunition magazine that is not compliant with New York State law, as well as approximately 1.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Fineout was charged with unlawful possession of an ammunition feeding device, a misdemeanor, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor.

Both individuals were transported to SP Deposit for processing and were subsequently released on appearance tickets.

They are scheduled to appear in Deposit Town Court on May 4, 2026.
