Wrong-way driver arrested on DUI charge in Bolton

BOLTON, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a Massachusetts woman early Saturday after she was reported driving the wrong way on Interstate 89.

Troopers responded to a report of a wrong-way driver traveling northbound in the southbound lane of Interstate 89 near mile marker 71 at 12:21 a.m. April 19.

The vehicle was safely stopped near mile marker 77 in the southbound lane.

The operator was identified as Denise Lear, 60, of Revere, Massachusetts.

Lear was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Williston Barracks for processing.

She was later released with a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court – Criminal Division on April 20 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to charges of gross negligent operation and driving under the influence.

Vermont State Police were assisted at the scene by the Williston Police Department and Black Fork Towing.
